Solar Eclipse 20th March 2015
Did you know there was a total eclipse due this week? On Friday, 20th March many of us in the UK may be lucky enough to see an almost total eclipse from our back gardens. If you also happen to be on the Faroe Islands, then you will also get to see 100% totality.
Not everyone will get to see it, but check out the link above to explore locations that will.
I’ve taken the day off work and will hopefully be getting to have a look with my kids using our eclipse glasses.
I am also hoping to view through my reflector telescope and maybe even take a few pictures. To this end I have been building a solar filter to use with the scope so I don’t go blind. If you are interested, you can see the basic tutorial HERE.
Unfortunately, the weather forecast isn’t great, and there is likely to be a lot of cloud obscuring the view so one of the most exciting natural phenomena of recent years, may be a write off. But, until then, I’ll keep positive and keep my fingers crossed.
If you do get a chance to see it, I would love to hear what you think of it all.
Just remember to take care, make sure you equipment is safe and sound and NEVER, EVER look directly at the sun!
