Images from the Solar Eclipse

Well, it was a bit hectic getting the kids to school and making sure they had their Eclipse Glasses with them to watch the events safely, but I managed to get home in time to see the action. I have never photographed an eclipse before so didn’t really know what I was doing, but had a go anyway and just played around with various settings – but generally some very fast exposures, smaller apertures and lowish ISO settings.

I’ll put the full size images up in the gallery later but, for now, here are three of my favourites among a sea of failures! At least I have plenty of time to practice before the next one!

These were all taken after the largest degree of eclipse, so a the moon was moving back away from the sun.

Hope you like them!

And if anyone managed to get some images themselves, please feel free to share them, or link to them on your own site – would love to see what other people saw yesterday.

  1. Very good for first attempt or was it your daughter telling you how to do it? I must admit they are very clear and sharp with a lot of detail.

  2. Ha! Very amusing – you know, you can go off people… 🙂 – Actually they have both had a go at the sun as well as the moon now and they are getting the hang of it very quickly!
