Writing Games to get the creative juices flowing!

I’ve been in the writing doldrums just recently, struggling to work up the enthusiasm for a real good effort at moving on in my latest screenplay. It happens to all of us, and sometimes we just need to change tack a little to get back into the swing of things again.

Writing games are a good way to do this and I hope to blog about some other games in the future. I know someone who is a master at writing games, and there is potential for some big ones in the Autumn, so watch this space!

In the meantime, check out Scott Myers blog Go Into the Story where a new writing challenge has just begun! For the last couple of years Scott has run a month long Scene Writing Challenge to get people writing to a different theme each day for a month. Sounds like hard work? Well, it can be, but it is a great way to flex your writing muscles and/or get your head back into a writing space. It is also about giving and getting feedback, so you can benefit from other people’s input, as well as develop your own feedback technique.

You can check out Day 1 which has attracted a few scenes and Day 2 has just been posted.

And there is a pretty good incentive for taking part as well – but you’ll have to check out the blog to find out.

Go on, don’t be shy!
